A grand jury in Georgia has not only declined to watch a video of a Taser-related death, it has dismissed all charges in the case.

In the video, Frederick Williams, a 31-year-old father of four, can be seen being Tasered at least five times in the chest (in one minute) while being held down by several deputies in the Gwinnett County Jail.

In a letter responding to an article about the case in the Atlantic Journal-Constitution, Melvin Johnson, attorney for Williams’ family, described the circumstances of Williams’ arrest and death.

In summary, this is what happened:

It all began when Williams’ wife called 911 to report that Williams was behaving in a violent manner due to problems caused by medications he had been prescribed for epilepsy. (Bear in mind: Williams had neither threatened nor harmed anyone. Also, he was unarmed. His “violent” behavior, so far, amounted to nothing more than walking up and down his own driveway, “talking crazy.”)

In her 911 call, Mrs. Williams made it clear that her husband’s behavior was a result of his problems with the medication. Also, this information was repeated to the first police officer to arrive on the scene not only by Mrs. Williams, but also a deacon from the Williams’ church. They begged the officer not to approach Williams without backup from other officers, for they were concerned for the officer’s safety.

The officer responded by pulling out his baton, approaching Williams, and shouting for him to shut up. When the grievously afflicted Williams did not shut up, the officer began beating Williams with the baton. Williams reacted by grabbing the baton. A struggle over the baton ensued, during which the officer fell and sustained a minor injury; he then retreated and radioed for backup.

Backup arrived in the form of 10-15 cops. Together, they somehow managed to subdue the “crazy talking” Williams; that is, they all piled in to him and hog-tied him. Very brave.

Meanwhile, Williams’ wife and four young children, also the deacon and others begged the police to take Williams to the hospital for treatment. The police replied: “This guy has injured one of Our Own. We will take him to the jail and deal with him. We have all of the medicine we need at the jail.”

Mrs. Williams tried to give her husband’s medications to the police, but they knew better, of course; they had better medicine at the jail.

Meanwhile, the deacon had called the pastor of the church; the pastor asked to speak to an officer. The pastor too explained that Williams’ behavior was due to epilepsy and begged for medical attention. But he, too, was told the same: Williams will be treated with medicine at the county jail.

The medicine, apparently, was a Taser gun. Five jolts from a Taser, to be precise. Five jolts into the chest. In less than a minute. With several deputies holding him down. Police work at its finest.

In the aforementioned video, one deputy can be heard saying, “Do you want another one?”

Williams’ response (his last words, in fact): “Please don’t kill me …”

    This is apparently how it is commonly done. My personal experience in calling 9-11 over a psychiatric emergency (which the police caused with their negligence and harassment tactics, by the way) was 1. being lied to more than once by the trooper in charge, 2. rather than the promised trip to the hospital, a SWAT team was called in, 3. Hubby goes off to jail to be screamed at and threatened, then tossed into solitary. I had to bail him out of there to get him the help he desperately needed. Conditions of bail? He is not “allowed” anywhere near me! Court case going on over a year now…
    Possible missing evidence (guns)…

    Another person had to call 9-11 on their son who was having mental troubles and they brought in the SWAT team again, only this time they gunned him down in cold blood. These incidents happened within just a few months of each other.

    My experiences with the State Police in WV over the last 35 years have led me to create an alternative blog site for our area, and I am privy to many “misadventures” within our legal system having to do with our state’s “finest”. We have severe police corruption in this county and in the state as a whole, which we try to bring out in the open, and KEEP it out in the open…

    this absoultely crazy to there but not uncommon. police today in America are out of control. they suspect all people ae criminals and pose a threat to them not to others. i had an incident when i was upset about something and they ask me questions and then ask me if I had warrants & weapons. i told them no i am a clean citizen, they still proceeded to search me for no reason. also they check my license was clear. i am done with the bullying antics of the police & federal government. within the next 4-5 years i plan to immigrate to Canada where they still have common sense. Me & my family will make trip. Most people do not know that the descdenandts of the police in America are the slave patrols of the 1600’s,1700’s & 1800’s.

    Also … how does it make sense to ask someone to stop moving if they are currently being given electric shock? Anyone ever seen someone shocked, you think they can stop moving when they have 5,000 volts going through their body ??? It’s just ridiculous and sad. I dont condone using violence but remember the supreme court has ruled more than once that if you are being unlawfully arrested you have the right to defend yourself with any means nesseccasry to survive. But nowadays since cops think you are guilty until proven innocent then they will shoot you. You can go online and see videos of terrorists and crazy rebels brutally killing people and the only difference between the two is that in america there is no blood.

    The jury system is a great system. In this case I think they were wrong to not let this case proceed. How can a selected group of people take the merits of this baffling crime solely upon themselves? There must be some recourse when grand juries use poor judgment.

    When will people understand that strangers cannot be trusted. People should be taught that problems are solved locally in the community. The way african tribesmen solve their disputes by referring them to the tribe leader seems more effective and, most importantly, more caring and considerate than thugs who have no ties of kinship to those who they are supposed to administer justice to.

    It takes five pussified cops to restrain one guy? I used to be a bouncer and I could control most anybody with a pressure point between the thumb and forefinger and add a little twist of the wrist and they did what you wanted. these cops must have answered those junk mail ads for a police career and thiry days later your a cop with zero training or at least that’s the way these new cops act.

    Tasers should hold the same responsibility as guns and every time they are used there should be an inquiry just like a gun being used. I bet none of those cops have been shocked by their tasers for which they should be required to shock themselves to understand what happens when they are used. The cop is holding the taser on him too long and the violent muscle contractions are being called resisting and the officer keeps saying “stop resisting” when the guy can’t help it when 70,000 volts is coursing through his body. Citizens should start carrying tasers as well to balance out the power of the police that’s obviously being abused.

    This guy was already dead after the fifth tasering within the first 2 minutes yet they still restrain him to a chair and it takes them an additional six minutes to start resusitating him with an incompetant doctor. And why in the hell is that automated voice instruction being used? There’s about seven or eight cops there, so don’t they know what to do? NOT!

    Qwinnett county Georgia must have enlisted the Stazi. This video should be seen by a more competant grand jury and all involved should be fired and felony murder charges brought against them. RIP

    This video was digusting to me, the treatment this poor man suffered through only to die by the hands of over zealous cops is a crime in itself. One female cop is seen smiling on the video as they lead mr. williams into a room what a sick person she must be to see this and get some sick pleasure from a sick man being man handled all the while shouting i can’t breathe and please don’t kill me. What has the world come to today when an innocent person is killed by those hired to protect them? I myself find this to be a miscarriage of justice as who do you call when it’s the police committing the crimes against you? it’s obvious in the video that mr williams needed a doctor not a beating/tazer from the cops to get him under control. this man already had a medical condition do the cops think that by tazering a person that is epileptic will somehow control them, no it only makes the problem worse.     This is a perfectly documented case of how those who are paid to PROTECT AND SERVE has been changed to PROTECT AND SERVE THEMSELVES.

    How on EARTH could this be dismissed by a jury? How on EARTH could they REFUSE to watch the video?!?!? EACH AND EVERY MEMBER OF THAT JURY SHOULD BE SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON OR THE DEATH SENTENCE.

    Must say that I’m glad it wasn’t me. First timer for watching someone being killed. It’s scary. I don’t venture out of the house much anymore. Have seen so many stories about people with medical conditions being beaten half to death because they are having a siezure or something. I just hope that anyone that I grew up with who is an officer in law enforcement uses their education before abusing, and or killing citizens of the United States, because they mustn’t forget that they are too.

    This was clearly a murder. Mr. Williams was not breathing for at least seven minutes as far as I can tell before they even decided it was time to start CPR. They knew he was not resisting and they knew that he was completely incapacitated by the Tazer gun. They killed this man in cold blood and his family is now suffering a loss of their father at the hands of cold-blooded killers. This was a cover-up of the worst kind. They let him die after being tazered because they knew they would be in trouble if he did indeed live. This family should immediately appeal this case. This is sick! I am writing all my representatives and asking them to ban the use of a Tazer or any kind of pain control device. Our citizens are getting treated worse than “enemy combatants.” Then again, the police officers view us as “enemy combatants.” My wife is a police officer and she even tells me that the police officers of this country view the public as “dirtbags” and the enemy. Something has got to be done to rein in this kind torture and brutality. It is escalating and it is sick!

    The reason you hear the cops scream “Stop resisting!” in every one of these taserings is they are told to do that in case it goes to court and the murdering cops can claim they did what they had to do because the person was resisting, when clearly any idiot can see they cannot possibly resist with 10 cops piled on top of them or they are handcuffed and on the ground.

    What is absolutely disgusting in this case is that the murderer screamed “Stop resisting!” just as the man was taking his last breath.

    This is not a racial thing anymore. I am a 54 year old white woman and was pulled over for reasons never explained to me, brutalized, knocked down, handcuffed, and taken to jail. Thank God what happened to me was just before the pigs got their tasers, but I was badly bruised and I don’t know why I had to be knocked down. I guess because my crime was so serious - an expired license and expired gun license.

    I’ve bought two “Stop Snitchin’ ” tee-shirts and plan to put a nanny cam in my car and get stopped on purpose and see what happens. A young man did the same thing because it had happened to him before. His crime? He was sitting in his car.

    So he bought a nanny cam and drove to a parking lot and just sat there waiting for a cop to come along, and sure enough, it happened again, but this time the cop was being secretly taped. When it became public, the cop is screaming all kinds of threats at the boy at the top of his lungs, telling him how he could just “make something up,” etc. The cop got in a little bit of trouble (probably leave with pay, like they all do) but this is the unbelievable part: THE COP STARTED STALKING THE BOY!

    BTW: when did it become a crime to sit in your car? The same thing happened to my friend’s son - he was sitting in his car with his girl friend, and the next thing he knew, he was in jail.

    A lot of idiot people make excuses for the cops, but just wait - I can 100% guarantee it will happen to them the next time they get pulled over, and everybody gets pulled over for something or other. I hate their guts!

    I think this is a five part YouTube where two cops explained why they had to first tase and then shoot and kill an injured man after he had a wreck. His car was on fire and he was on fire and sitting beside his car in (as the cops said) a “catatonic state.” The skin on his back was burning and peeling off. His clothes had all burned off. A few minutes later he was dead. They didn’t want to release the 911 calls or their radio calls; they had already nicknamed him “Naked Man,” and that seemed to amuse them even after he was dead.

    The cops said he was in a catatonic state, he was unarmed, his body was covered 100% (said the cops) with blood and his skin was burning off. However the cops investigated themselves and found themselves justified in killing him. For one thing, they told him to lay down on his back and he didn’t do it. He was already just sitting there dazed after a wreck and he had the nerve not to lie on the hot pavement just because his skin was burned off his back! The cops investigated themselves and found themselves innocent. If they receive any punishment, it is paid administrative leave - in other words, a vacation.

    Each murdering cop has to be tased himself as part of their training. If you watch this on YouTube, they are tased in the back and helped gently to the ground (unlike their victims) and notice that the arms automatically come forward where the muscles seize and they can’t move them. So what’s they first thing they say after they tase someone? “Put your arms behind your back or I’ll tase you again!” In each case, the victim says “I can’t move my arms!” Zap.

    They are ordered immediately to stand up. They can’t and the murdering cops KNOW they can’t because they have been through this. Zap.

    If a victim of these terror cops is standing (tased or not) he is ordered to get on the ground. If he’s on the ground, he’s ordered to stand. On your back? Get on your stomach. Already on your stomach? Get on your back. The only problem is, the victim is either tased and can’t move or 15 cops are on top of him and he can’t move. Whether the victim is handcuffed or has a pile of cops on him, you will ALWAYS then hear the inevitable “Stop resisting!” “Stop fighting!” Stupid fools.

    In our are cops MUST be tasered for 5 seconds (automatic timer when tasered with prongs) before they are allowed to carry their tasers on duty.

    This of course isn’t an excuse for this atrocity. These cops should be put on trial for murder.     After viewing countless videos of police brutality, I think I’ve finally figured out how the police cause people to *resist*. It seems to be an unofficial technique that some cops use to cause resistance which they can then use to to justify there brutality. I’m going to call this technique S.C.R.U.M. standing for

    S=Smother the perpetrator (4-5 cops on top of the perpetrator so videos do not show what is going on nor can onlookers see)

    C=Choke the perpetrator so he/she can’t yell for help nor tell onlookers what is happening.

    R=cause resistance by these methods:
    1. Crush testicles causing severe pain
    2. Crush kneecap causing severe pain

    U=render victim Unconscious with TASER or via choking

    M=Murder
